[Weight (lbs) divided by [height (in) squared]] multiplied by 703
Or visit the link http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/magazine/interactive/bmi/index.aspx
Meaning of the BMI value:
Below 20: Underweight
Between 20 and 25: Normal
Between 26 and 30: Overweight
Between 31 and 35: Obese
Above 35: Super Obese
Remember: Athletic people and those with heavy muscle mass will have higher BMI, but without the associated health risks.
The aim of this programme is to help the patient regain control over his weight thanks to an individual therapy. The treatment of eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa is based on the same principle of weight control. Eating disorders, which are defined as an abnormal irregularity of the eating habit, can be a real danger to the patient's health. Eating disorders can be treated with clinical hypnosis or EMDR after the practicianor assessed the psychological reason behind such a behaviour disorder.
